review 1: This is a touching tale of two women of different backgrounds. Each has something the other cannot have, and they are brought together by a child who appears to have been left behind at the end of the school day. Making assumptions about each other, they are immediately off on the wrong foot. Unable to conceive, Deidre is married, educated and well off. Diagnosed with cancer, Kenisha is a very young single mother who lives in the projects with her three illegitimate children. As a Christian, Deidre struggles with her unanswered prayer of becoming a mother. Kenisha is a good mother, but feels God abandoned her long ago when she needed Him most. They find that each has something to teach the other as they work together for the good of the chil... moredren.
review 2: We find friends in the most unlikely circumstances sometimes. This book really lives up to the "everything happens for a reason" mentality, putting people in the right place at the right time. It also indicates that you can't judge a book by it's cover. Once you let someone in, you find there's always more to the story than what your preconceived notion was about that person. It made me laugh...it made me cry and made me believe that things do work out. I couldn't put this book down. I read it in 2 days. Great book! less
