review 1: How to Write a Book This Weekend Like I Did, Even if You Flunked English Like I Did is by Vic Johnson. This is a how to book on writing. Vic Johnson has written several books in the How To style. This book is quite interesting if you plan to write for the first time. Although his information is generally headed towards How To books, it can be applied to other books. I am trying to write a nonfiction book and this has some interesting information that I can use. The idea of setting aside a weekend, a specific amount of time, devoted entirely to writing sounds like an idea that might work. I can set aside any time to write as I am retired; but someone who works would need to resort to the weekend. His chapter on creating an audio recording and having it transcribed ... moremakes a lot of sense. I generally find myself talking about a chapter in the car where no one can hear me. This advice would work for a book or even a presentation. then his information on places to go to get your book published as an e-book is one I will go back and reread as I get further into my own book. Although his book is applied generally towards How To books, I think the information in it can be used in a variety of books. Mainly it is general information towards nonfiction books. I liked the book as it was easy and quick to read and gave a plethora of information about writing that I can use.
review 2: The author uses this book to shill his other products. If you've never done in depth research for a college class, etc, might find this book really useful. For someone with research experience, though, it's not useful. The one main concept that still rings true is this: choose a concept that won't got out for date. For example, if I write a book on the iPhone 5S, it will be out of date within two years. Istead, you might write. Book on how to program your own app, as the technology won't go out of date as fast. less

Okay primer for how to get started writing "how-to" books quickly. Not useful for fiction.

I think this was a good book about writing a book. It was short and to the point.
