review 1: I loved Victoria Abbott's cozy mystery. The characters were well developed and slightly unpredictable.... not one's usual "British" characters.... but Irish wiseguy uncles who possessed loving hearts and their niece, the sleuth, who loves books and works as a "book finder" , so to speak. I loved the descriptions of the cozy dwellings, antiques, and the pug, Walter. I read it in a few hours and it was delightful.
review 2: The Sayers Swindle by Victoria Abbott is the second book in A Book Collector Mystery series and follows on from the first book The Christie Curse. This is one where you definitely need to have read the first book to understand the mystery. Jordan needs to recover her employers stolen Sayers collection but before she is able to do so, the cur... morerent owner disappears after a body turns up nearby. The book starts off very slow and it is difficult to stay interested and it is only half way through that a murder occurs. The main focus is recovering the missing collection and the murder mystery is incidental and plays a very small part. I love the characters and this helped to keep the book interesting and I also enjoyed the Sayers references, making me want to dig out my old collection and reread them. The book picked up the pace in the second half which was a lot more entertaining. I will probably continue to read the series as I enjoy the references to the earlier crime writers and am a bit of a collector myself not wanting to part with any of my mysteries.
