review 1: Hmmmmm I'm not sure what to say about this book. It is aimed at YA 's. Maybe I would have enjoyed it better if I fit into this category! It dipped its toe into risky territory but never really took us there. It had some great characters with interesting back stories that were under utilised. The book changed gears in the last quarter, although it made everything a bit more exciting, it didn't really fit with the rest of the story. I do love the fact this was written by a fellow South Australian. A good read but didn't blow my socks off.
review 2: I picked up this book because I spotted the tagline on the cover, which was a quote from Melina Marchetta (one of the most brilliant YA authors out there) about how much she enjoyed characters written by the author Vik
... moreki Wakefield. And sure enough 'Friday Brown' was filled with some of the most vibrant and interesting characters I have ever read. I enjoyed each and every bit of this story and I found Wakefield to be a genius at filling the pages with words that flowed together beautifully and hypnotically. Not only was the writing beautiful but the characters too. They kind of reminded me of a rag-tag bunch of teenagers not too dissimilar to Peter Pan's Lost Boys. I have no doubt that Friday and Silence will stay with me for a long time. less

The writing was a little different than I am used to, but the story kept me reading.
