review 1: I got this for free and am so happy I didn't pay even a penny for it. I'd still like my time back. The story is not believable from the start, the characters are not likable, attempts at humor just really aren't funny, the narrator rambles SLOWLY for chapters and chapters on and on and on about nothing interesting (OK, other than her parents; they were cute) in between the handful of mystery related crumb tosses that were just enough to make me suffer through to the end. All that, and then the ending was hardly worth the agony of getting there. The last quarter of the book at least moved faster because the narrator had probably run out of uninteresting things to say. I am just so glad that it is finally over.
review 2: What a fun read this book was! Dixie Divas
... more is just down right funny! Trinket and Bitty are the southern Stephanie Plum and Lula. Funnier because if you have spent any time in any small city or town you have probably met someone very close to these ladies. When Trinket moves back home to the small, Mississippi town she grew up in, she plans on caring for her elderly parents after her divorce. However, her parents are reliving their teenage years and her cousin, Bitty, is the one who needs her help when her ex-husband is murdered and she becomes the prime suspect in the case. There is more humor to this story then suspense, but you will fall in love with cynical Trinket and ditsy Bitty as they try to solve the crime along with their group of "Divas". This book is a great summer read or vacation from life's daily stress. As Trinket says, "If only there could be as many Happily Ever Afters in real life as there is in fiction, life's trials and tribulations would be much easier to bear." Can't wait till I have enough time to start the next book in the series! less
