review 1: don't like writing a bad review but would like to say that I was very disappointed in What Milo Saw by Virginia MacGregor. I was so excited to read it and it was also the first choice recommendation for October at Exclusive Books (SA). It is written very simply as if for children. We all have different tastes so I hope I don't put anyone off. The story is about a nine year old boy, mature way beyond his years who has an eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa. There is a cast of interesting and well written characters who narrate the novel. The reviews on Good Reads are mainly good so I have obviously missed something here. Please read it for your selves, I would like to hear your opinions
review 2: This a 3.5 not 4. I very much enjoyed 'What Milo Saw' - it
... morewas cute, funny in parts with some very touching moments. The only reason it doesn't have a higher score is because parts of it were a little too far-fetched. Particularly the ending, parts such as his Mum going off to Syria with Tripi to find Tripi's sister. And it suddenly being fine to leave him with his Dad. Neither of Milo's parents put Milo first which made me a little angry. Apart from that, I enjoyed the book. I liked the way you saw things from Milo's world and it gives you a sense of what it must be like for people with his kind of vision. less
