review 1: I liked this one, but wish it would have been longer. It would have been perfect for filler within a series, but not as great as the start to it. I really liked that this book contained shifters you don’t hear more about, sea creatures and air creatures. I wanted to know more about them, their culture, and to get to know more characters, it is for this reason why I wished it was longer. The little I did see was good, I liked Mama T, wanted to see what their power structure was and how they all interacted. The attraction between Matt and Lauren was explosive right from the start. I loved that Lauren’s meaningless one night stand turned out to be the same person she was to travel with. Can we say awkward?? It did turn out good, but brought about more that I wanted ... moreto learn about, Shamans and Air shifters. It seems like there is more to both Matt and Lauren, it also seems like they have managed to strike a bargain. At this point I can only hope more about this world is explained in the next books, what little I did see here will make me check them out.
review 2: Stormchild by Vivian Arend* I received this ebook free from the author in exchange for an honest review*Stormchild does a wonderful job of setting up the Pacific Passion series. Just when you get pulled into the relationship with Matt and Laurin, the book is over. You have to tune into Stormy Seduction to see what happens next.Matt is a powerful Shaman for his people, the water-shifters but he is also their doctor too. He is charged with the care of his people while trying to hold all of the eligible females at bay. He has no desire to spread his seed around so his children will grow up without a father around. He takes his job seriously and travels from settlement to settlement providing care for everyone. He enjoys his job and his life but when he spots Laurin, he realizes something is missing.Laurin fled her home because she was tired of fighting off the men who only wanted her for her abilities. Laurin travels around the water-shifter settlements teaching their children and evaluating their needs. She has been able to hide her true identity so far because she is continually moving but all that changes once she meets Matt.Matt and Laurin indulge in a night of passion so hot is scorches the pages, well scorched my fingers anyway. Something so powerful was driving them to the point they almost abandoned all sanity. They both feel that something special happened but can’t explain why they fell that way. Laurin makes her escape only to find out she will be trapped on a boat alone with Matt.Faced with a severe storm they were forced to shift in order to get off the boat safely. Matt received the shock of his life when he realized what Laurin’s special talent was. Matt knows that she is his soul mate but he doesn’t want to scare her so he strikes a deal with her that they both benefit from.Over all my only complaint with this book was it wasn’t long enough. I was hooked instantly in the story and was at the end before I realized it. I am don’t have to wait on the next book Stormy Seduction to release (it came out Tuesday) to find out what happens next.I definitely recommend this series by Vivian Arend. The first book has a couple of steamy sex scenes but nothing I wouldn’t let my mother read, accompanied by a unique take on shape shifters.I give Stormchild 4 Flaming Hearts. less
