review 1: Mitch has the reputation in their small town as being a bad boy. Anna is on their local police force. They say opposites attract, and these two are drawn together like magnets. The heat between them is intense, but so is the love. Mitch and Anna have been seeing other for a couple of months secretly. Mitch is tired of the hiding. He wants Anna and he wants to make it public. At first she's not sure, but once she's gives in to her fear and realizes she's shouldn't worry so much what people think, their relationship grows. But Anna's partner has other plans and causes trouble for them.I loved Mitch. He's such a hot, yet sweet man. He's tattooed, pierced (yes exactly where you're thinking) and rides a bike. Plus he loves Anna so much and wants nothing more than to spend every... more moment he can with her. Anna is a great character as well. She blooms being around Mitch and he makes her so happy. They have some pretty steamy scenes too. The one where he pulls up on his bike on a dirt road while she's sitting in her car...WOW. Anna is a lucky lady. This is the first book I've read by this author and I truly enjoyed it. It didn't effect my reading at all that I've not read the other series that this is apparently a spin off from. I'm looking forward to more of these books.
review 2: Rocky Ride, the first book in the Thompson and Sons, is a spin-off of the Six Pack Ranch series, which I haven’t read. I had no problem following the plot but I was a little loss when characters from the Six Pack Ranch was mentioned or introduced. A little background info would have helped in some situations.Rocky Ride started off smoking hot. Mitch and Anna hooking it up on the side of the road. Woo!! Hawt! And the first half of the book was sizzling. Mitch wants more from Anna but Anna is afraid to let loose mainly due to her job and her reputation. Mitch is tired of being Anna’s dirty little secret. Anna has a wild side but it’s a side she likes to keep hidden. But being with Mitch is worth being herself outside the bedroom. As Mitch and Anna decide to out themselves and have a public relationship, that’s when the book started to fizzle for me.The sex scenes were hot and well-written but after awhile I kinda got bored. As much as I wanted to believe in Mitch and Anna as a couple, I couldn’t. The romance didn’t work for me. Mitch isn’t a bad boy by any means so it was hard for me to believe that Anna would be ashamed to be seen with him. All the animosity that was aimed at The Thompson Boys made no sense to me. They run an honest business. What was I missing? Is it just small town prejudice at work?It took me a month to read Rocky Ride. I kept putting it down because it wasn’t holding my interest. I liked the characters enough. I liked the family and how close the brothers are. I will read the next book in the series. less
