review 1: Merribeth Wakefield has been ruined. Oh, not really. But the man that everyone assumed she was going to marry has gotten engaged to someone else. So... everyone assumes there's something wrong with her. She was a wallflower to begin with, but now she's getting the cut direct. Except from her aunt's friend, Lady Eve. Lady Eve has actually promised to help Merribeth but Merribeth is worried that the woman has her own agenda. Especially once she's introduced to Eve's nephew, the man known as Bane.Lord Knightswold is also wary of his aunts machinations, but he's willing to be drawn in to one last bet. One that includes him being celibate for two weeks. Little did he know that the woman he met, his very own Venus, is going to be at his aunt's house party. Merribeth and Bane wil... morel have to navigate their own pasts as well as Lady Eve's plan in order to find each other and their own happiness.
review 2: This was a great romance and I am stunned it was written by the same author as the previous installment in this series. Stunned. I liked the characters (Though Bane's journey and motivations reminded me of a different Simon in a different regency) and I thought the progression of their interest was believable and I felt the connection. The prose was a wee purple at the start, but the writing was markedly improved over the previous installment and I suddenly find myself looking forward to the next book. less

Better than the previous books in the series. I loved seeing the stronger side of Merribeth!
