review 1: It is a sad wistful experience to read these fragments. Nabokov's books are so polished in language and form that it seems almost indecent to view these half formed fragments. And then there was his injunction to destroy them on his deathbed. On balance I think they should have been preserved but in a public library for scholars, not a general publication. The amount of sexual imagery and longing is at some level disturbing when you reflect this is a 77yo. But then it is fiction and doesn't that exist to put us in the minds of others?

... morejoyed this edition due to its heavy pages and the reproduction of his actual note cards. I wouldn't think this is worth the $35 it sells for but I found it for $7. Worth it. less
