review 1: This is an action-packed hard-boiled novel with a female lead character named Crissa Stone. I had read a previous Crissa Stone book, Cold Shot to the Heart, and enjoyed that one also. Stroby's writing is a combination of Richard Stark and Elmore Leonard. Crissa is Parker with more compassion, although there is no hesitation on her part to shoot other bad guys when necessary. It is a classic tale of a heist gone bad, and Crissa finds herself on the run. It's a very fast, well-written, enjoyable read. More, please.
review 2: First and last Stroby book I'll ever read. Who knew that a hard ass "professional" case like Crissa just wanted to be a momma. You know like us women secretly do. I especially loved the mother daughter shopping moments. Overall generic--plot
... morewise and character wise. You know it's all downhill when the main character basically draws a map where she and the money can be found. Oh did I mention my name's Crissa, I'm from up north, and I have money? Despite what the jacket says there was no promise. Nope. This chick, this pro, decided to leave her hideout to hand deliver the money to some family her partner didn't even give twat about. All out of some misguided sense of duty. Or stupidity. But this is after she CALLED THE COPS to tell them where said partners body could be found, cause she didn't want him to be alone. Guess she forgot about his priors. Oi vei. Skip this mess. less
