A writer of great courage and curiosity, he is thoroughly delineated in this massive biography, of which "Learning Curve" is only the first half, covering 1907 - 1948.Well known for Stranger in a Strange Land and Starship Troopers, Heinlein also wrote many short stories as well as science fact articles about the future and space travel.And he was a nudist! ... moreke to know. In light of the mid-life crisis which ends volume one, it causes one to reexamine some of the interpersonal relationships in his books. A solid and interesting read. One also sees a lot of character building from his not privileged childhood and his years in the Naval academy and as a serving officer. less
