If there’s ever been any doubt as to what qualifies as a gay anthem and what doesn’t, rest assured, we haven’t got this one wrong. Tanzanian-born Hunter (aka Hunter the Voice) has already cemented himself as Africa’s enfant terrible of the music world, having launched a media campaign which has seen him goading far-right groups into watching the video to his debut track, “So Gay”…
…and gay it is! Possibly breaking any existing record for uses of the word “gay”, its original form is as an electronic blues song, giving no clues as to its rally cry of a chorus. Added to the release are two dance remixes, both of which are essential dancefloor fillers. And yes, it’s released on Valentine’s Day, the perfect fuck-you to naysayers and homophobes!
