review 1: Everyone should read this. Do you have a "financial advisor"? Do you know how much money your financial advisor is getting for his/her services? Do you know that s/he has no fiduciary obligation to look out for your best interests, and that his/her motivation to make money by selling you products is most likely his/her most compelling motivation when s/he gives you advice? Do you know what kind of training s/he had in order to claim the title and supposed expertise that caused you to rely on him/her? Did you know that research demonstrates that you can invest your own money without a lot of hassle, and get better results than you would if you had a "financial advisor" doing it for you? Read this book.
review 2: This was my first William Bernstein book, but it w
... moreill not be my last. Mr. Bernstein is highly intelligent; he researches obsessively; and he communicates in a simple, straightforward manner. This is my kind of writing style. The Investor's Manifesto was outstanding. I rarely give a book a 5....this one was deserved. I am not sure every investor will enjoy his more scientific or researched approached to the subject matter. To me, this is what lent Mr. Bernstein credibility. The risk is that a seriously researched book can descend into a boring read. The Investor's Manifesto held my attention all the way through. I highly recommend. It will make anyone a better....and especially wiser....investor. less
