review 1: The Hole by William Meikle is a modern spin on the type of tales that HP Lovecraft used to tell. Things start off quickly and maintain things straight through to the end. While I thought things got a little absurd in the middle stretch, as things got explained in the last quarter of the book I was okay where the story went. If you're a fan of Lovecraft and you need a quick read, you can do a lot worse than this one.
review 2: The Hole is a horror novel by William Meikle. ... morehile events quickly turn desperate in this fast paced horror story which distils elements from various Stephen King books - Desperation, The Tommy Knockers, Under The Dome etc. As the dwindling survivors are trapped underground they slowly discover the true horror of what has happened to their once peaceful town. Stephen King has pretty much made this kind of scenario his own and after the magnificent Under The Dome there is little that can be added to the genre. However if you like this kind of thing and fancy a quick easy read then I’d recommend this novel. less

Good fun in the trailer park. Great, down to earth characters in deep trouble.
