WWW Wednesday: Read, Reading, Will Read (28)

Welcome to WWW Wednesday, a meme currently being hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. It’s a place for you to do a little update on what your reading plans are.

The Three W’s are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?
What are you currently reading?

1. This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

Still reading this! I love the way it ties to the previous novel, but the romance development could be better. The smooth shift between POVs is great, though, and I am really curious about the conspiracy the main characters are unraveling.

2. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

ASOIAF reread! After stalling for half a year, I’m finally getting my shit together and rereading the series. I’m just as in love with it as the first time, but there is a little bit of added pain since I can see all the ~foreshadowing.

3. Dark Force Rising by Timothy Zahn

Star Wars Legends! I have tickets for The Last Jedi tomorrow, so this seemed like the perfect time to continue reading the Thrawn Trilogy. I’m about 25% in and I’m loving every chapter.

What did you recently finish reading?
  • American Queen by Sierra Simona: Great writing, but everything else was terrible.  Marketed as a Menage book, but it’s a love triangle. Review here.
  • Alpha and Omega by Patricia Briggs: Reread! Amazing introduction to Anna and Charles’ story. Goodreads review here.
  • Into the Fire by Jeaniene Frost: Conclusion to Vlad and Leila’s story that reduces all characters to shadows of their former selves.
  • Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie: Fast-paced and wonderful build up to the mystery!
  • The Coppersmith Farmhouse by Devney Perry: Flat writing, flat characters, flat romance. Review to come.
  • What do you think you’ll read next? The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty

YA Fantasy set in the 18th century Middle East! I’m in the mood for new worlds and this looks amazing.

Nahri accidentally summons an equally sly, darkly mysterious djinn warrior to her side during one of her cons, she’s forced to accept that the magical world she thought only existed in childhood stories is real. For the warrior tells her a new tale: across hot, windswept sands teeming with creatures of fire, and rivers where the mythical marid sleep; past ruins of once-magnificent human metropolises, and mountains where the circling hawks are not what they seem, lies Daevabad, the legendary city of brass – a city to which Nahri is irrevocably bound.
