review 1: A lot of fun, and the setting is as wonderfully bonkers as ever, but there were a couple of niggling things that I didn't like. Firstly, there was a bit of a disregard for the loss of human life in this one that sat weirdly with me, and secondly I felt that introducing a romantic rivalry between the main character and another teenage girl (which included Flora being insulted for her weight, etc) was predictable and unnecessary.
review 2: So, yes, I'm loving these books so stinking much. I love Flora! She's awesome. This girl has got serious guts. She's amazing. She's a bit Theodosia and a bit Enola, and I loved Tiny Doom (who the fike wouldn't?). There's lots of action, adventure, and mystery. ... more questions answered. Of course, book three will have to tell us where Flora the first is (I can't believe she's dead, there must be more to her story) and of course some people need their comeuppance (do you not adore Poppy so much in this book??), Idden's story needs finished, and Udo... things need to continue there. yes. They do. I couldn't put it down and I can't wait to read the last in the series. less
