review 1: The best book of the series yet! This series just keeps getting better and better, but also more for mature audiences. There is romance, adventure and danger. You get glimpses of information about the past. The mysteries are slowly unraveling and that is my favourite type of book. There are many juicy discoveries but I don't want to give spoilers. What a cliffhanger the ending was. I though this was supposed to be the last book in a trilogy but I can see there must be more to come.
review 2: It's been a while since i read the first two -- so long, that I had given up the series as abandoned and was pleasantly surprised it existed. Even with the long time away, I quickly found myself ensorcelled by Wilce's winning world. I love the uniquely American fantasy sett
... moreing and the way that Wilce plays fast and loose with anachronism to make this mostly pre-industrial world relatable. I especially love how gender agnostic the world is, with gender paradigms reversed (or not) to create and where people can just be be mothers, daughters, friends and crushes without having to react to what's appropriate or not. This third (and final?) Flora book is quite possibly the best of the series. While there's still plenty of action, Wilce allows Flora more quiet moments. She's still quick to overreact and driven by the aphorisms of her mentor, Nini Mo, still Flora, but she's a more grown up Flora. The ending leaves open plenty of possibilities, but that's okay, as I'm sure Flora is up to the challenge. less

I don't even want to talk about it. Holy eff what a waste of a good idea.

soooo good, but I refuse to believe it is the end of the Flora saga.
Kimiko
a bit more depressing than the previous ones
