review 1: Quick thoughts: So ridiculous it defies belief, but it's in on the joke an revels in its absurdity so there's amusement to be had here. The exaggerated layer of ecchi over everything and over the top approach (presenting cooking classes more like martial arts battles) make "not for everyone" a severe understatement, but I was laughing as much as I was shaking my head. Good for what it is, and certainly isn't trying to be anything else.
review 2: I loved Soma's attitude and the overarching idea that failures can eventually lead to success. The cooking scenes were also amazing, and I enjoyed how Soma approached every dish like a battle or a challenge. ... moren many ways, this manga is supposed to be humorous and outrageous, and sometimes that humor was successful, but I wasn't entertained by the nudity and orgasmic/overly-euphoric nature of the tasting. Also, all of the double entendres pertaining to eating or tasting were pretty annoying as well. Loved the idea behind the story, but as you can see I could make do without the sexual fanservice! less

Shokugeki no soma is a good light hearted manga. Also the only good cooking manga I've ever read.
