What did I just read?
This book was weird. It is set in civil war Mississippi. At first you think it is going to be a Cinderella story, but it isn’t. It starts off seeming fantastical, but it is not. It is just kind of ordinary. It isn’t terribly exciting until the very end. It was almost like I kept waiting for something cool to happen. There is an element of hoodoo magic mixed with some kind of snake god religion that I do not think is real. But it is different from any hoodoo I have read of. I guess it is kind of a coming of age story. In the end I was just let down. I did finish it though, so I guess like a 2 is in order. Idk. Not a great blog post for an underwhelming book. My bad.
