review 1: As a massive fan of the UK’s Great British Bake Off I was immediately hooked on this book. It was an extremely short story but so sweet and with such lovely characters I wished the story was so much longer. It took only 10 minutes to read but a great introduction to the author and a break from the miserably wet world outside. Fortunately there weren’t too many characters to keep track of but those that there were, were well rounded and likeable. I wish the book were longer.
review 2: This was a short, cute read about a small quaint little village up north, who are holding their annual Christmas bake-off competition and a few of the residents in particular are keenly interested in winning the title for very different reasons. It is mainly being judged by a b... moreig celebrity of the baking world and with an entry from last year's winner (who is a professional baker by trade) for she is the odds-on favorite to take the prize yet again this year. But that foregone conclusion is firmly shot out of the window when someone mysteriously tampers with the cakes and sabotages the whole competition. Why would someone do something like that in this close community that prides itself on helping each other? All will be revealed and recipes too if you read this festive free book which to be honest, I wished that could have been a bit longer because I really wanted to know more about the place and it's occupants. And with a budding romance in the air to boot, well, I was totally intrigued to see where that went seeing as it also enticed me enough to want to read the connecting novel that features the same characters. So guess what I'm reading next, yes, that's right, it's Meet Me Under The Mistletoe by Abbey Clements and I can't wait to get stuck into the story as I feel that this is one author with a bright future ahead of her and I'm glad to catch her at the start of it. less
