review 1: The mind of Abby Weeks absolute amazes me. These are some very dark, erotic books. I know even know how she thinks up some of these scenes, definitely not for the squeamish. Just because I gave this book a 5 star rating, doesn't mean that I condone or agree with the abuse or crimes that happen in this book. What I did love about the book is it's uniqueness. I don't know that I can handle one more romance where the H or H can commit, etc. The writing was excellent in this book and the heroine does end up with her HEA in book 3. Again, I don't condone any of the abuse that went on in this book, but with that said, one of the reason for the high ratings was how often I needed to change my panties in a day. Lordy be, the sex scenes..... The emotion is so real too, you ... morefeel everything that Rose feels and just feel devastated for her. Abby weeks is by far one of my favorite authors to date and I read on average of 3-5 books a week an have for years so that is saying something. AND this by FAR is one of my favorite series of all time.
review 2: Like the first book in the series, this one begins with Rose in a hopeless position. She's been property of the DRMC for 2 years now, being forced to strip and service club members at a bar in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the inhospitable Northern Canadian wilderness with no hope of escape or rescue. Honestly, I don't know why she didn't take her own life. When things get even worse and she decides she'd rather die trying to escape or commit suicide than live another moment in those deplorable conditions, she finally gets a break. Josh, the only living member of her father's club is introduced. He sets out on his own mission for revenge and inadvertently discovers Rose's location, setting out to rescue her from the DRMC. It seems that Rose has finally gotten a break!Surprisingly, there was absolutely no mention of Patrice in this book. I really expected him to make an appearance, but it never happened. Maybe he'll be reintroduced to the story in book 3. As one of the main characters in book 1, it was weird to have him entirely absent.Another thing that was shocking, or at least unbelievably stupid, was that when the opportunity presented itself to kill Serge and other DRMC members that had brutalized Rose they left them ALIVE! What kind of dim-wit would do that!?! Josh and Rose deserve a Darwin Award for that moronic move. Maybe she is suicidal after all. less
