review 1: I was pleasantly surprised as I have never looked at the subject of death from the point of view of the deceased. It was a poignant story of grieving, and final acceptance that it is possible to move on with life for the family left behind and another plane in the progression of the soul for the person who has died. I have always believed the dead do move on when their life on earth is over but Ms. Carter clearly depicted this transition in a truly believable way. As Jay helped Maya to deal with her grief, he was also able to deal with his entrance into a spiritual plane. excellently written .
review 2: I was 19 when I lost my best friend in a car accident. An emotional roller coaster followed and I read many books about afterlife, trying to find anwers, sup
... moreport and strength. I soon realized that you won't find answers in books and that you have to move on and "Start with a blank canvas". I will never compare my loss to the loss of a husband and a little child that has to miss his dad. Mrs Carter wrote a fictional story about a life she imagined her husband might have after his death. I kind of liked the first half of the book, but after that I had a hard time finishing it. I got annoyed and couldn't avoid to see Whoopi Goldberg in her role as a medium in the movie Ghost - a movie I love btw.The wonderful thing about reading is that every story has a different effect on people and if this story has a positive effect on readers who are dealing with the loss of a beloved one.... That's all that matters. less
