review 1: Abigail Carter’s first novel (and I hope she will write more!) is a refreshing read. I thoroughly enjoyed the multi-dimensionality created by including one character in the afterlife, and his experience there as well as his interaction with the land of the living. Although it may seem far-flung as an idea, the story itself demonstrated a remarkable sense of being matter–of-fact. This believability may be due to the authority Ms. Carter has as a widow herself. I can imagine it was therapeutic to write this story, but her skill in doing so brings it to an artistic level. Her characters are distinct and vivid and I appreciate the way humor and wisdom are both present as the captivating story unfolds.

... moreoks that have spirits speaking but this one was done in a different way, more of another character speaking, It may be because I lost my mother about one year ago, I want so much to believe that it is her as a butterfly or cardinal that is watching over me. I think of her everyday and wish there were more signs that she is still with me. For that reason, the timing was right for me to read and enjoy this book. less
