review 1: According to Hoyle is an exciting, fast-paced Western story about two Marshals escorting prisoners to trial and getting pulled into a much bigger adventure along the way. To me this was heavier on the action/adventure than the romance, although there is some relationship-building in it and a lot of entertaining banter. The characters are all interesting and often mysterious - even the dog! There is only one steamy scene in it, which to me was a shame since I think Abigail Roux is great at writing them (and it was not between the couple I was hoping for). Not everything is wrapped up by the end of the book, so maybe there will be a sequel some time. If there is, I will read it.
review 2: This reminded me a bit of Megan Derr's The Bastard Prince, where most
... moreof the storyline are filled with good fast-paced plots and actions, and witty humor all throughout the journey. But of course, Abigail Roux's According to Hoyle here has it's own unique sense of humor and twisted plots that has made me another one of her newest core-heartened fans! It was an easy read too, which kept me turning the pages the entire night, curious to know what to happen in the next chapters. All in all, I would definitely prefer this one to those who want more than just smutty sex and fun in the bed! It's all-in-all action bit with it's own humor to make you enjoy it regardless. I'm betting a sequel will be on its way somewhere near future soon enough *winks* less
