review 1: I could have finished this in one sitting but due to the desire for variety, I let it stretch. This collection of short stories pack a lustful punch, short they may be but definitely scintillating! The characters were unpredictable and each of the major players has his/her own POV. I liked reading it and I appreciate the author's note before one chapter that may be too sensitive a topic for other readers.
review 2: ** 4 STARS FOR A C James! **A collection of 4 short erotic paranormal stories, Ruler, Bound, Burned and The stories are based on the hellfire club and its paranormal owner, employees and patrons.Ruler: Meet Arie. He's a seriously hot vampire who is on his way to tell his Boss, Tessa, that the price for blood has increased when he walks in on a human ... morebeing interviewed for an erotic Dancer position in their BDSM club, the hellfire club. Let's just say it was no normal interview! Rulers, rubber bands and Pencils...Who knew office stationary could be useful for more than work?!Bound: Faerie Luna is pining after someone who will never love her back. In order to forget her love for vampire Victoria, Luna regularly visits Tessa's dungeon on the 3rd floor of the Hellfire club. She is bound, gagged, teased and left by Tessa in a state of sexual frustration. While she is bound, her sister Daeveena enters and tells her that Luna that she is leaving and she doesn't know if she'll ever return. Luna's mum was exiled, Her sister is leaving and Victoria will never love her that way. She finds solace in the form of Aries.Burned: In Burned we hear more about Victoria and how she became a vampire. In 1783 Victoria was sleeping with Henri a married Huguenot. When they were found in bed by Gustav (Henri's Brother in law), Henri's wife and daughter, Henri claimed that Victoria was a witch. Her fate was to be burned to death but Arie arrives in time to save her and her only chance at survival is to be changed into a vampire. Chained: In this short story we hear more about Tessa, Hellfire Club's owner. She has a long standing arrangement with a very public figure (a politican) that gets her to act out a scenario that involves his wife finding them. Little does this politician know that his fantasy may just become a reality!I really liked these short stories. I particularly liked how it flowed from one character to another and linked them all while still maintaining the unrelated story lines. They give you a glimpse into all the main characters and what makes them who they are. I think I may have fallen a little for Arie...ok, I lie, I know I have! He is one seriously hot and steamy Vamp!! A.C. James's writing style is fresh and captivating. She has managed to make 4 short stories as spell binding to read as a normal novel. And oh boy! The sex scenes...seriously freaking HOT! I really hope there is more to come with these characters and maybe a full length novel with them.
