The Dalek World review

I was lucky enough to be given a copy (somewhat battered) of The Dalek World for Christmas. If you get a chance, it’s worth a read. It came out in 1965 and was written by Terry Nation and David Whitaker. It gives a strong sense of the vision for the Daleks very early in their history, and is a very different thing from even the Daleks of Genesis of the Daleks. What’s in it? Stay tuned a few rels…

The Dalek World

It’s a mix of comic strips and short stories set in a universe east to connect to Dalek Masterplan and has various Earth agent, strange technology and dozens of types of Dalek. It is the source for The Mechanical Planet, the strip used for the free audio with Vworp! Vworp! 3, and is entirely free of the Doctor, except in the odd prose reference.

There are six comic strips, five stories and a more than half-a-dozen features on various things from the inside of a Dalek saucer to the Dalek creed.

If you’ve any interest in where the Daleks could have gone, or want to read the exploits of Meric Scrivener (Earth Agent) and his colleagues, pick this up.
