When the bus arrives at the last stop on Market Street, CJ asks why they have to be in the dirty, run-down part of the city. To each of his honest questions, Nana patiently offers an optimistic response. By the time CJ and Nana reach their final destination, a soup kitchen, CJ has developed an appreciation for the things in his life that he was originally unhappy about. This remarkable book illustrates urbanism and diversity in race, class, and socioeconomic status while sharing a powerful message about gratitude.
