review 1: I've greatly enjoyed this series.... until this book. The characters were the least interesting. Che with her raging incompetence and the loyalty divided Thalric plays a key part, with a little romance between them. Totho is back with his strange love for Che..... then that is about it.... no one else is in this book.Very few other characters are introduced with any character development. This book does read like a stand alone novel, which can be nice. ... moreth which we began, dead, it's important to see the effect of the survivors, and the identity of Che's 'ghost'. There will be more to see about that, I am sure! An excellent book, but anyone who reads it will have to have read the previous ones in the series - or they will get nothing out of it. less
