review 1: I can't get a feel yet for the attachment that Blake and Kaitlyn have for one another. I'm surprised at how quickly she trusted Blake knowing nothing about him. Blake walks into her room and yet she does not scream. I have not figured out yet where Kaitlyn pulls her strength from. This is no background information on her other than her being a model. I'm eager to continue reading to discover what kind of woman Kaitlyn turns out to be.How can Blake feel any attraction to Kaitlyn when he does not know her. He rescues slaves for a living and only this one time he finds a special connection with? I'm not buying it.I'm confused. Why is Kaitlyn pushing so hard to have Blake when she never felt the need of a man before? Why would Blake tell her how he wants to control and possess... more her after everything she went through? He does not even know the extent of her abuse and here he is trying to claim her for himself. I get that she is trying to write a dark romance but this is becoming unrealistic and cruel. I have no respect for this kind of treatment. It's not even done out of love. I do not even understand what it is that is compelling these two to behave this way so soon. It's troubling.I'm not discovering the love in this story. I find it very disturbing. What's disturbing is how Kaitlyn goes from being a slave from her kidnappers to Blake's slave so effortlessly. I appreciate the darkness of the story. I'm just not connecting with the slavery aspect. I get needing dominance and submission and control, but not the need for her to become his slave. That's not healthy.I hate when the master says to the slave "good girl". I want to smack them. I also want to smack them for having the slaves walk on their hands and knees like a dog. I've read slave stories before but this one is degrading and offensive.I do not understand the Blake character. I can't get a feel for him. I don't like his need for a slave and not a lover. I'm all for BDSM but what he does is all together different and it makes me uncomfortable.I realize Kaitlyn has accepted her fate as a slave, but I'm still not sure the methods Blake uses to teach her to be strong are the right ones. Punishment is not a form I would associate with as building strength. If I could believe that in some way Blake was preparing Kaitlyn how to be strong in case she was taken again and this was the only way to protect her from breaking then I could get behind his methods. I hope this is the case.I'm not a fan of cutting or asphyxiating a person during intercourse, so this story is troubling for me.I am not a fetish fan but I do enjoy dark romances and this one definitely crossed the line for me. I think I met my match with this one.It was written well and it was a page turner, but I still cringed when I read the parts of ownership regarding Kaitlyn enjoying being a slave.
review 2: The second book in The Captive of the dark series....It's not a continuing story each are complete story. This one is Blake he saves girls that have been taken to be sold. On one of his missions he rescues Katlyn...he sees her darkness and she sees his. He needs to fix her and she need/wants to be fix....Blake decides she will be his slave and in that process set her free. Fast read, I liked the story and if there are any more I will probably get those to read:)) less
