You guys!
Remember those fun yarn weavings from summer camp?
Yah, those colorful God’s Eyes. (Did you just have a flashback?)
Well, they’re back in a big way but they’ve grown up a bit.
I’m obsessed with making these little beauties right now. There is just something mesmerizing and calming that happens when you make one.
It’s no wonder I love them, considering the history of the Ojo de Dios.
Wikipedia says “Ojo de Dios have traditionally been created for celebration or blessing, presented as a gift or designed to bless a home. The spiritual eye of the Ojo de Dios is thought by some believers to have the power to see and understand things unknown to the physical eye. Young people in the mountains of New Mexico have made Ojos de Dios in learning circles (wisdom circles) with their elders.”
So, of course I had to teach my kindergarten kids how to make them, and what do you know, they love to make them, too!
Even the complex God’s Eyes are easy to make.
And to make it even easier for you to learn how to make one, in addition to the step-by-step photo tutorial, I created a video to help you. Which, I think, is super mesmerizing, too, if I do say so myself
