review 1: As a huge "fan" of Ancient Rome, I was delighted by the amount of information contained within this book! It encompasses a wide range of activities contained within a "standard" day in 115 AD - complete with background details, and analysis on how things differ from contemporary society. The one area where the book could have been improved upon, would have been to include more illustrations. The artwork included was nice, but there just wasn't enough of them to do the book justice. Recommended to anyone who has an interest in Ancient Rome, or, Antiquities in general.
review 2: Il testo rispetta le promesse fatte nel titolo: si tratta di una narrazione minuziosa della vita in una giornata 'normale' nell'antica Roma. Da un certo punto di vista la narrazione �... more�� limitata, nel senso che tratta di argomenti molto terra e terra e solo per quanto riguarda l'area metropolitana della Citt��: i riferimenti all'Impero sono ridotti al minimo possibile. Questa caratteristica pu�� essere considerata un limite cos�� come un punto di forza del libro. La vita del cosiddetto popolino pu�� infatti risultare molto importante e significativa per capire tutta l'organizzazione statale, oppure pu�� essere considerata troppo poco importante rispetto ai fatti di rilevanza storica.Per quanto mi riguardo ho trovato il libro una lettura piacevole, un tuffo in un mondo molto diverso, ma per certi versi molto simile a quello in cui viviamo oggi, quasi duemila anni dopo. less
