review 1: I initially had a hard time getting into this - I had even put it onto my Abandoned Shelf because at a certain point I just wasn't interested, and only picked it up again due to a lack of something else to read.While I'm glad I finished it and it did get more interesting, I didn't love it. Perhaps the time period (Pre-Norman Saxon England) didn't appeal to me,....)I'm still not quite at the end, so we'll see if this gets revised.
review 2: Well, I so wanted to like this book. But for me there weren't very many likable characters. It must be the authors writing style but I found myself struggling, picking it up and putting it down. Usually if a book catches me at the beginning I am sucked into it. This however I found myself scanning and not really readi... moreng.I gave it nearly one hundred pages of effort but no go. This one I Did not finish. No offense to the author but as much as I tried it didn't seem to go anywhere. less
