Under the Hill
review 1: I read the two Under the Hill books back to back, and I'm very glad I did. Set pretty much in the area I grew up, the story is full of familiar landmarks and almost-familiar local eccentrics. Then there are the various inhabitants of the faerie realms and their very human prisoner, who has no idea which factions to trust and if there'll ever be a way for him to get back. Splendid stuff, although that cliffhanger ending would count as rather mean if I hadn't already had the second half queued up ready to read.
review 2: This wasn't an easy read, but it was wonderful in all its complexity. Urban fantasy and steampunk all mixed up into one wonderful and really exiting story. The two worlds, faerie and our own, are in a way mirror images of each other where the bor
... moreders are blurred and things leak over in both directions. Time is seriously out of synch, which leaves our lovers Chris and Flynn torn apart not only by magic but also by years, and it makes me wonder how they'll ever be able to find each other again. And then there's Ben. Wonderful Ben. I'm more than a little bit in love with him by now, and my heart aches for him. Will he too be able to find love? And what and who is he that Faerie takes such interest in him?I'm definitely going to read the next book when it comes out, though I'm not sure what to do with myself while I wait for the rest. The cliffhanger at the end had me sitting at the edge of my chair and I swear I was hyperventilating. My poor heart almost gave in! less

I like the story but it lacks a continuity most of the books from Samhain Publishing have.

started this book but can't deal with a cliff-hanger. Will come back to it later.

I like when publisher warns you about cliffhanger. Well done, Samhain!

Note: Good guy publisher warned people about the cliffhanger ending.

Couldn't finish the book. The fairy stuff just wasn't my cup of tea.
