review 1: Uff...que puedo decir... Veamos, el libro me ha enganchado muchisimo, me lo he empezado esta mañana y ya está terminado. El ritmo es genial, la historia te mete de lleno en Tildor y en la vida de Reene. Los personajes me han gustado mucho y las organizaciones militares, especialmente las Viboras, me han parecido muy trabajadas y muy interesantes. Pero a pesar de que yo siempre me muestro más inclinada hacia la acción que a las escenas de amor, me he pasado todo el libro esperando un beso que no ha llegado. Extrañamente, esto me ha sentado astante mal.Había momentos de tensión entre los protagonistas y en algunas encenas casi podias cantar: "Que viene, que viene". Pero el esquivo beso no ha querido hacer aparición. Creo que ha sido precisamente por culpa de ese beso... more perdido por lo que no soy capaz de ponerle el cinco, y es que he terminado muy indignada, gritando a viva voz : ¿Donde esta mi beso?
review 2: This book reminded me very much of the fantasy worlds of Tamora Pierce, with its fighters, mages, and politics, particularly the Beka Cooper series and the Protector of the Small series. But I didn't feel that Lidell's first book was derivative--just that it shared some similarities of world-building. I loved the way she developed the characters from start to finish. Although the book stands on its own, there was enough foreshadowing to make me hope there are further books about these people in our future! less
