review 1: Disappointed in this. Seemed to have great potential but left some unanswered questions. I felt that the characters didn't develop enough, and their attitudes and motivations were not clearly explained. I liked the interweaving fantasy with realism, and the main character Evie seemed realistic based on her history (although this history was not ever fully explained), but overall I was left feeling frustrated and wanting more.
review 2: This book opened my eyes to the suffering you sometimes don't see, if someone can hide it well enough. Evie kept the pain in her ribs secret for years, but the pain it took to tell her new family gave her something beautiful - a dragon that could help her heal and grow. Despite her past, Evie is a loving person to those who love ... moreher back, and I admire characters like that. Your past should not define your future, and this book teaches you to move on and live your life regardless. I hope there are more books about Evie, because I don't want her story to stop there. less
