Kate Kane, Paranormal Investigator
review 1: I've never been a fan of vampires, but I knew from the first paragraph that I would love Iron & Velvet (Kate Kane, Paranormal Investigator, #1). Rarely have I read a book with such a strong, consistent, and compelling author's voice. I loved Kate Kane, a beautiful disaster, half-fairy/half-mortal. Kudos to author Alexis Hall for imaginative world building and effective (as opposed to tedious) use of swear words. I even liked the vampires!
review 2: I loved this campy novel. It's got everything in it: faery, vamps, weres, and demons and the author makes it all fresh by infusing the entire novel with this wonderful wry/sly humor. There are some really funny lines throughout and I think that I will start saying "Fight me, you immortal tosser." to anyone who cross
... morees me, from here on out. This was a delightful read even though there are lots of gross, sometimes gory situations and scenes--the author makes it all work in a grand manner. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. less

Started reading the excerpt on a whim and got hooked, hard. Dammit. Like my TBR isn't fucked enough.

Pure-dee fluff. If Jim Butcher and Chelsea Handler had a literary love child...
