review 1: I chose this book because of the remarkable cover, and was surprised by the story. Set in a post apocalyptic world the first person narrative was by an MC other than natural born human. The aqua park locale featured mer creatures that might be folk rather than animals. The attraction between the MC and the mer male may have been the MC's delusion. Nothing was resolved, but the premise and presentation were so well done I urge the author to give us the completed story.
review 2: I am an adoring fan of Alexis Hall. His writing is so beautiful, full of pathos, humor and lyricism. This is not a novel, this is a heart searing story, what I would call a Modern Fable and if you have been touched at all by the plight of Orcas in captivity, as I have, you will find this
... more story simply breathtaking. While it is not about Orcas--it's more Magical with the Mers, but it is an echo. I feel it is a Love Story to Cetacea and other creatures of the wide wide world that belong in that world, free. Thank you Alexis Hall for this wonderful story. less

A beautifully written story. Sad and haunting but with touches of hope,

Beautifully written, and moving. But it left me heartbroken.
