review 1: Fated to be mated storyline; which I can handle if the relationship develops during the course of the book... Never happened. It could have been so much more; I wish the warlocke would have come into play, or the Vallati, or the mage vampire and Trey...or a date of some kind! Just rutting around - I kinda got the feel of monster porn during a few scenes... If you like shifters - then this is probably a must read for you. But, if you like a little more romance in your romance books; then I would skip this one. Because, being the first to bottom someone out; and the first to walk the dark passage - is not romantic. Especially, in the first days of a relationship.
review 2: I was looking for a short read...or rather listen in between new releases and I had ... moreput off this series for a while for some unknown reason and thought this was a great opportunity to introduce myself to the series. I started listening and the narrator was ok...but it was one sex scene after another..so much so I didn't really connect with the characters since there was no real character building. Then a little over 1/2 way through the story started to kick in and the sex scenes were fewer and I started getting into the premise of the story and quite enjoyed it. I admit I did fast forward through the sex scenes in the later half...now those who know me know I do enjoy the smut/sex...but the first half of the book had almost nothing else and well I do like erotic romance, I'm not much for erotica. I enjoyed the last part of the book and it will spur me on to reading the next in the series and find out how Trey does going after the Shepherds. 2.5 stars for this read due to the boring and too numerous sex scenes...but I have hopes for book 2. t'irla t'irla's talk book blog tirlastalk.blogspot.ca less
