review 1: I didn't put the book down, so in that sense it was a good book. But the deepest impression it made on me was one of anger, and that tone doesn't match up with any other holocaust survivor book I've ever read. I feel Aline Sax missed the voice of a first person survivor. In particular, the narrator seemed to despise his fellow Jews who seemed to be more passive. I'm surprised at the number of awards it has received.
review 2: the war within these walls was so so good. It talks about the nazis' cruelty toward the Jewish and it follows a jew boy who want to claim mutiny against them. it makes me emotional and happy at the same time. it makes me more interested in the history of ww2. its based on a true story but some characters are fiction. i really like how it i... morenclude lots and lots of sketches and drawings that tells the story better than any words can. less
