review 1: Loved this book. Just loved it. Winnefred is such a lovely, giving person even though she's felt unwanted most of her life, and the hero, Gideon is wonderful. They make such a lovely couple. The dialogue between them was fantastic and made me laugh often and there was enough angst to make it a well-rounded book. It was a touch slow to start, but once I got into it, I couldn't put it down and read it in one day. I couldn't have been happier with it. This author has a very smooth style, and the unexpected chuckles plus the bit of angst made reading this such a happy experience that I'll put this on my keeper shelf to be reread again in the future. I'll certainly be looking for more of her books.
review 2: I liked this! I mean, I didn't get super invested
... morein the romance, but I liked both the main characters, and it was just a pleasant read. I loved how after he kisses her the first time, he's all angsty because he knows he shouldn't have kissed her, and she's just like, "Ok, but we're going to keep kissing, right?" and doesn't care about possibly damaging her reputation. I also adored Winnefred's friendship with Lily (and I really, really wish we had gotten to see more of Lily's romance; I wish she had gotten her own book, really) and how she was so grateful to Gideon for buying Lily a dress and didn't even care if he had bought her one as well. I could've done with less angsting from him at the end about how he didn't want to get married because of his tragic backstory or whatever, but otherwise this was really enjoyable! less

Too dull to get through all the way. Far less charming and funny than Johnson's earlier books.
