review 1: Nightwalker (Stormwalker #4)by Allyson James Blurb:Stormwalker Janet Begay, proprietor of the Crossroads Hotel, a place where the paranormal stop for a safe night’s rest, discovers the hard way that a slayer is targeting Ansel, a Nightwalker who’s become the hotel's more-or-less permanent resident. When Janet and her lover Mick intervene to save Ansel’s un-life, they find that the attack is the beginning of an oncoming storm. Janet has her hands full already with the upcoming marriage of her father, the return of a woman who claims to be Coyote’s wife, her crazy half-sister, a couple dragons on her back, and her worry about Mick, who’s behaving strangely again. But it seems that everyone is after Ansel, who fears he killed the woman he loves in a Nightwalker frenz... morey. Janet must choose between protecting Ansel, or facing the most powerful magical beings in the world, who are willing to destroy Janet, Mick, her hotel, and everyone she cares about to get to Ansel and his secrets. My review:I’ve missed hanging with Janet, Mick and the crazy people of the Crossroads hotel. Seeing this latest book, I had to get it. Of course there’s a mystery of supernatural origin and we get to have some fun time with past friends, Coyote, Janet’s Grandma, and Nash- the policeman. The story has a quick pace that keeps you interested and leads you to jump to many wrong conclusions.Ms. James’ story will keep you entertained with laughter as well. The comic cut-ups uttered by Janet, or the ever funny Coyote. Even his wife, Bear has some fun one-liners. After all, Gods and Goddesses don’t court like we humans do. Ms. James paints a detailed picture of the people and cultures in the Southwest. Now if only it was possible to ride that storm or snuggle up with a dragon… ahhhhh… A girl can dream!
review 2: 2.5*All the summaries about characters, worldbuilding rules and events happened in the previous books made this reading slower, and a bit boring beacuse they were interspersed repeatedly along the narration, even in the middle of the main action scene - in so interrupting and dampening it.The overall plot had an already seen feeling, elements from previous installments just shuffled and mixed together here, with the alibi of some new side characters who were new names and faces but acted as previous villains. With Paige's issues that weren't even resolved, but only dismissed in the end.Mick and Janet's relationship shows no evolving, and there's no mention of their planned wedding (came out in the previous book)... less
