Tales Of The Shareem
review 1: I enjoyed this more than most of this series. I didn't quite buy that these guy were in love--that's part of the problem, the books are so short and so generally sex-heavy that it's not believable that they love one another. Unless you're someone who equates love and sex--and I'm sorry, but I punched that card too long ago to believe that, ya dig?Anyway, this actually had independent plot besides the typical Shareem tale--which if you've read the rest it's "meet, dominate, sexytimes, thin plot usually revolving around family/societal pressures. The hero was great, if a bit ... like I couldn't tell if he was SAYING he wasn't stupid (i.e., forcibly made MR in some manner) but while actually being a bit on the MR scale despite his protestations, or if he was really just ge... morenerally subdued compared to the other Shareem. The distinction there wasn't very well-described, in my opinion. Like, readers have to be induced to believe, they can't just be shown. Anyway, his IQ really doesn't matter much. He was sweet. I liked him. You know what character I've never really been fond of, except in his self-named book? Rees. Rees is just sort of a douchebag in all the subsequent books. He's not even that nice in his own book. And despite that "turning his face to Talan, it was transformed to a look of tenderness," (paraphrasing) if he's a douche the other 99% he has lines, he's just a douche. I get him when he's fighting, I get him when he's fucking, but otherwise, he's just another jerk. I don't know why you'd elect the head douche to be the leader of your cadre. But whatever, I don't think with my dick so maybe that's the difference.Anyway, it was a nice ending to the series, or to this part of the series. If they ever got bound together, Tolkien-style, this would be the first book. Totally the Fellowship of the Cock Ring.I'd really like to see a monogamous level one story. I don't think I got nearly enough Aiden in the Aiden-Ky story. Anyway, fwiw, that's my wish-list.
review 2: Kieran was disappointing when you compare it to the earlier books in the series. We are told Kieran is the ultimate Level 3. We are never shown this. The sex scenes were tame compared to the earlier books like Rees, Rio, and Calder. The romance and steam suffered in this book because the focus was on finding spaceships to escape the planet. The hero and heroine were separate a lot of the time and when they were together, it was forgettable.I highly recommend the earlier books in the series like Rees, Rio, and Calder. Sadly, Kieran felt rushed and like the author was just going through the motions. less

3.5 rating It's a possible end to the series but there is still a door left open.
