review 1: A cross over of Ever from The Immortals series and Daire from Soul Seekers. I have read The Immortals but not Soul Seekers and had no trouble understanding what was going on. You don't have to have read either series but may spoil The Immortals a little bit for you.Is told from Daire's point of view and she sounded somewhat interesting so I might give the Soul Seekers series a go. Any girl in a psych ward is something I might want to read about. What can I say I have a soft spot for crazy people.
review 2: Okay, so I was a little confused with this reading, and I guess it is because I haven't read the Immortal series, so I didn't understand the connection between Ever and Daire. After I read the part titled "Daire Meets Ever" and the read the letter to the read
... moreer, I realized it would be a "disconnect" for me. As I was reading the part that is introducing the main character in the new series, I kept trying to figure out how Ever fit in. I'm still not sure if she will be in the new series or not.Evidently the short story's purpose is to introduce Daire Santos, the protagonist of Noel's next series, THE SOUL SEEKERS. I completely enjoyed the story and meeting Daire. She is one feisty little girl who has issues with her mother, Jennika. Daire has "hallucinations" that are either drug-induced or a mental disorder, according to the doctors. But when a drug test comes back clean, the assumption is mental problems. Poor Jennika doesn't know what to do with Daire to help her, so she sends her to Daire's grandmother that Jennika hasn't seen in years and Daire's never met. Daire's grandmother apparently has some knowledge of herbs and their healing powers, but both Daire and the grandmother also know that the herbs only help Daire for a while and the "hallucinations" return. I am assuming that Daire is a Soul Seeker. I guess I'll find out exactly what is causing her to see the "glowing people...crows...thousands of bloodied, severed heads on spikes..." when I read FATED, the first book in THE SOUL SEEKER series. :o) less
