review 1: 11 000 years? Talk about eternal love. I saw didn't see that twist coming!!I love Serai, how despite being frozen for thousands of years, is determined to live her life and to save her sisters. No one will stand in her way, be it a High Prince or even a God. As for Daniel, he was such a dark and mysterious character, appearing at the most crucial and dangerous times all over the serie, I was very curious about what motivation pushed him to fight so hard and so desperately. He finally got his reward by being reunited with his lost love. This was such a beautiful and touching story!!! One more success!!!
review 2: This was a hard book for me. I really like the Atlantis warrior series, but this book was missing something. I was really enjoying the first two-thirds
... more of the book and then one scene happened which took out all the joy in reading the book. What I liked:*I really liked the hero, Daniel. He's a dark, tortured hero type who is trying to redeem himself. I also liked the fact that he was a hero who was in touch with his emotions. One of my pet peeves in books is when the hero or heroine waits to the last chapter and realizes he or she is in love. Daniel has had one love in his life, and that is Serai. I mentioned he was one of those dark, tortured heroes and could have done with a bit less of that quality. One annoying quality though was how he thought he was unworthy of Serai, which I actually thought was the opposite, but I'll get to that in a moment. *I liked the interactions with characters from past books. Part of the strength of the series is all of the characters in the series and the roles they play. I also love how Alyssa Day writes strong female characters. Most of the female characters do not sit around waiting for the hero to save them, but in fact are working to fight in the battle of good vs. evil. What I didn't like:*I hated Serai by the end of the book. I didn't mind her in the first two thirds of the book and then one scene occurred which made me hate her. Serai is a twenty five year old women who has been in a coma like sleep for 11,000 years. She was to awaken and marry an Atlantis prince, but that never happened. I deliberately worded her age that way because I disagreed with how the author called her 11,000 year old women. She had been a sleep for 11,000 years!!! She was not living then, so she really stopped aging at 25 and her character acts like it sometimes. One thing I hated was how she would scold other characters in the book by calling them younglings and such. First, though the men,who are several hundred years old, may have deserved it, she acts like she has so much more wisdom and life experience when she really doesn't. Again she was asleep for 11,000 years, and most all the other characters in the story have more life experience then she does. Another thing I didn't like was her air of superiority she had. It wasn't that bad for me until I read one scene. Conlan, the ruler of Atlantis, and his brother, Ven, come and find Daniel and Serai in the desert. Serai, and rightfully, so has some issues with Conlan because she was to awake from her sleep and marry him. However, he fell in love with a human and marries her. I understand how Serai hated being left in basically a coma, especially because she never wanted to marry a prince, but she acts so bitter and spiteful in that one scene it totally changed my opinion of her. She never has met Conlan and does not love him, all she wanted was out of the coma. She has been in love with Daniel her whole life. But when she meets Conlan she acts like a bitter ex. She never wanted Conlan, she's loved Daniel forever. During the end of the scene, she tells Conlan she will never marry a lord and that she has slept with Daniel. Conlan gets mad and then she tells Conlan she can't wait to tell his wife about his reaction. She is so childish in deliberately wanting to hurt others. Not to mention, I can't imagine Daniel's feeling so good at the moment. The story was really ruined for me because of Serai. Daniel spends a portion of the book feeling like he is not worthy of Serai, but it really is the other way around. Serai is just not worthy of Daniel. less
