review 1: Edge of Disaster was a mixture of good and bad. I really loved the premise of the story and I liked the beginning of the book. I think that the plot was rushed and Pearce was just too good to be true. I love the idea of a hero swooping in to save the girl who has gone off the rails, but it seemed he was too patient and too kind. The romance moved very quickly and seemed very rushed. I debated between a two and a three, but I liked it enough that I thought it had the potential for a solid three. Edge of Disaster could have been so much more if it had a longer length and more character development. I, however, just couldn't connect enough to love it.
review 2: From the author: Alexia Hammond, broken and destroyed by a tragedy she can’t seem to recover fr
... moreom, is on a downward spiral toward destruction. A life of partying, alcohol, drugs and men has brought her near the edge of disaster. That is until one night while at work as a waitress in an upscale restaurant, she falls under the spell of one of her customers, Pearce Middleton. Once she gazes into his smoky gray eyes, her life takes on new meaning. But can she put her past behind her and allow herself to fall for the exciting and gorgeous Pearce, or will her lewd behavior come back to haunt her and ruin her chances of happiness forever? From me: The story of Alexia and Pearce is provocative and there is lots of sex which is not graphic. She's a girl, with a secret who likes to get drunk and slut it up in a big way. He's a hot trauma surgeon who meets her when she is serving him at a private party at the bar where she works and for him it's love at first sight. He is VERY patient and VERY persistent. He about loses his mind when Alexia is brought into the hospital with a trauma and he is the surgeon on call. I'm not gonna lie, I loved that all the medical terminology and references were spot on! It's not gut wrenching but their is some angst. There are three books in the series about each of three siblings, so this book does stand alone.Penned Con Author 9/12/14 less
