review 1: The book is well written, but within the first chapters so many characters are introduced (and paragraphs written from their POV) that I got lost. It’s the first book in a series so I reckon many of the secondary characters will play a main role in a future book, but I had difficulties to distinguish between main and secondary characters. My problem was that once the duke and Penelope were introduced, I wanted to read about them and didn’t care much about the others (I love duke vs. governess/secretary/companion stories). Overall a good book and I will read the others in the series.
review 2: This was the first book by Ms. Forester that I've read and while I love the genre of historical romance I'm not sure if I would put her into my auto-buy list. I found
... more that there were entirely too many characters and most were pretty dull. The book was suppose to be about Grant and Genie and while they did have a portion of the book there were two other couples vying for space in the book. Then there was the other subplots going on and at times the book was just kinda...boring. I'm sure at some point I'll pick up the second book in the series when it comes out, but I won't be in a hurry to read it. I guess I would recommend this book if your looking for some light fluff to read, but don't expect a deep set of characters or an all consuming love fest. less
