review 1: My mother always used the old motto, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"... that being said, I have a hard time keeping my big mouth shut. I'll be kind in saying that I had to call 'time of death' on this *thing* at 44%. Unfortunately, there was a gratuitous amount of errors, story holes, but ultimately, it was the immature and unrealistic dialogue that forced me to close my Kindle case. On a positive note, I think the idea of the story was a good one with a lot of potential and could be really well received by a younger audience.
review 2: This was so bad that I couldn't get further than maybe five pages (the first chapter) before I gave up. This is poorly edited, badly written fanfiction masquerading as a serious novel. This
... more is pretty much the how to NOT write a good book: 1. Showing not telling As soon as the book starts, the reader gets inundated with her life story, which, I might add, I couldn't have cared less about because it wasn't a very good life story in the first place. 2. Ridiculous insertion of violence that the protagonist is okay with Her brothers bashed up a guy for kissing her and then no guy would look at her or talk to her again. Girl, that is physical assault. Don't be feeling warm and fuzzy about that. It is not okay, for any reason. 3. No characterisation except for the biggest Mary Sue everSelf insertion of the author: Check. Bad character: Check. Boohoo sob story nobody cares about: Check. Perfect in every way: Check. The list goes on, but again I only read five pages. 4. Boohoo I'm a virgin I don't understand why in books girls seem depressed about the idea of being a virgin. Seriously; it's not like people are forcing you to have sex just to say that you've had it. This really annoys me; sexual experience is not the be all and end all of your romantic life- there are plenty of characters in other books AND in the real world who have zero sexual experience but still know more than a lot of other people. 5. Extremely terrible writing How can this even have been published? If you are going to write a book, please at least be kind not only to the reader but to yourself and edit and do more than one draft. Also, please learn to use proper punctuation, grammar and COMMAS. Also, random words that don't exist randomly inserted are also major turnoffs for books and make it look like a twelve year old girl wrote it during maths class. Seriously, I recommend everyone save yourself the time and money and don't read this. There are frankly much better written fanfiction you could read for free, and also several other books with similar plotlines but better written stories who could be supported with your patronage. I am glad that I got this for free off Amazon. less
