Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire | Book Review

Synopsis

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Review

Travis “Mad Dog” Maddox is an intelligent college student who does underground fighting to assist him in his schooling. He’s lost his mother at an early age and therefore suffered some repercussions his family doesn’t know how to fix but then he met Abby Abernathy.

Abby “Pidgeon”Abernathy is an elusive teenage girl who keeps to herself when she’s not with America. She ran away from a past she can’t seem to escape. No one knows exactly her real identity and for that she’s glad.

The Mad Dog meets the Pidgeon….

For some reason unbeknownst to anyone, Travis had seem to find a constant through Abby. He settled. He ignored the girls flirting around him. He even started cancelling some of his underground fights. From the moment he set his eyes on her blood spattered cardigan, he can’t seem to get her out of his mind.

The whole school tried to figure them out because they basically look like a couple but they’re not. Abby unconsciously became the apple of the eye of the whole school and boys began clamoring for her attention.

But they soon realized that they can’t deny the tension between them and decided to give it a try. It wasn’t a fairy tale in the making but their relationship was one hell of a ride and through it all, they emerged strong, faithful, loving and happy couple.

I just love this book and Travis Maddox will always be one of those characters who will always have a special part in my heart. I can’t go on and blubber about this book. I want to be selfish this time and I’m encouraging you dear readers to please just read it.
