My Blood Approves
review 1: Oh, Alice, Alice, Alice.... How much do I dislike your character? Let me count the ways...*May contain spoilers*In the other reviews, I saw many compare this to Twilight, and some even said it was much better than Twilight. Now I know that it's not really "cool" to like the Twilight series, but I like Stephanie Meyer's writing style and I enjoyed the Twilight books (just not the movies!). And as much as Bella's character wasn't necessarily a strong one, it was well developed. Alice.. Alice is just an idiot. Her immediate assumption that of course she should be a vampire? Of course she should be with Peter and love him for forever because her blood tells her to? Of course she should just live with these people she's only known for a week because they all immediately... more love her? I just... I don't understand any of her reactions. Aside from that... I did enjoy the book overall. It had a couple of new twists on the Vampire thing, enough to keep the story interesting. I just hope that Alice morphs into a stronger character as the series progresses, because right now, if she cries one more time because Peter doesn't want her (although she doesn't really want him, her blood does), I may just scream.
review 2: When Alice meets Jack, she immediately knows something's different about him; he's unlike anyone she's ever met before. Not to mention, he's far too good at keeping secrets. They become fast friends, and when she meets his brother, Peter, a sudden connection flares between them, despite the fact that he hates her. Alice's suspicion that Jack is hiding something is confirmed when she finds out that Jack and his "family" are really vampires. Torn between love and her blood, Alice is caught between the two brothers. Only she doesn't really have a choice in the matter, and things are a lot more complicated with vampires than she ever could've known. I give this book 5/5 stars because it was insanely captivating. I could not put this book down. It has a wildly creative plot, and I love the characters. There was never a dull moment in this book, and I fell completely in love with it.. I think the title is very clever, and after reading the book I totally get it. I cannot wait to devour the next book! less
